THREE SEPERATE FIRES REPORTED IN FAYETTE COUNTY MONDAY

Firefighters in Fayette County were busy Monday, responding to three separate fires during the day.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office says the first 911 call came in just before 1:30 p.m. reporting a truck and grass on fire on Interstate 10 near mile marker 670. The Schulenburg Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire without incident.

Shortly after 2 p.m., another 911 call came in reporting a grass fire on Mackinson Road in the West Point area. The La Grange Fire Department responded the scene and requested help from the Muldoon Fire Department. The fire engulfed approximately 80 round bales of hay before it was extinguished. It is believed the fire started from a control burn.

Later that afternoon around 4 p.m., a call came in reporting a structure fire on Wolters Road near Schulenburg. When the Schulenburg Fire Department arrived, they found a 40 foot metal storage container full of furniture and clothes on fire. The container was extinguished without incident. It is believed that the fire was started due to welding work that was being done on the unit.
