WASHINGTON COUNTY FARM BUREAU RECEIVES AWARDS AT CONVENTION

  

Nearly 1000 farmers and ranchers from 150 Texas counties met in Arlington December 5-7 at the convention center to shape the future of Texas Farm Bureau at the organization’s annual meeting.

Washington County Farm Bureau receive the outstanding award for public relations in the county and placed second in the district for the secretary’s award with a 92.53 % renewal rate.

Representing the Washington County Farm Bureau's 4,149 member families was President Larry and Donna Winkleman secretary Russell Borgstedte and directors Linda Oberhoff and Don and Jane Wellman.

The Texas Farm Bureau had 799 voting delegates who addressed various topics including:  eminent domain, property rights, groundwater and the use of drones on farms and ranches during the policy session of the organizations 82nd annual meeting.

"The overall mood of the delegates was positive" TFB president Russell Boenig stated. Delegates voted to support groundwater conservation district rules that respect a landowner’s right to a fair share.

Boenig was reelected by the delegates for a second term TFB president. He is the 10th president of the statewide organization which represents 518,502 member families.

Two new state directors were elected: Jessica Richmond of De Leon  County and Scott Frazer of Nueces County.
