BRYAN CITY COUNCIL CANCELS MEETING ON SUPPORTING RANEY BILL
The City of Bryan has announced it was canceling Thursday’s special meeting called by the mayor, who wants the Bryan City Council to consider supporting HB 1903, the bill by State Representative John Raney which would change the way the Blinn College campuses would be funded.
The City of Bryan cited the reason for the canceling the meeting were some members of the Council attending a funeral.
The bill says that, “the governing board of Blinn Junior College District shall direct a proportionate amount of the total amount of funds the district receives from tuition and fees.” This would mean that money made at the Bryan campus would only be used for that campus, and not go to helping the Brenham campus, which is experiencing financial trouble.
If passed, the bill would take effect with the fiscal biennium ending August 31, 2017
When or if the meeting will be rescheduled is yet to be determined.
