CUBS TENNIS FARES WELL AT CONROE TOURNEY
The Brenham Varsity tennis team played in the Conroe Invitational tournament, Friday.
In A division boys doubles, the team of Nick Summerour and Aren Holt won 1st place. They won their first match vs OakRidge 6-2, 6-2. Then they beat Conroe 6-2, 6-4. Heading into the finals they had a high level of confidence due to not dropping a set all day. They played Kingwood Park in the finals and won 6-3, 6-1.

Coach Roy Thibodeaux says, "Aren and Nick just played very well together and they played smart fundamental doubles. I was very excited to see them get 1st place."
In the B boys doubles division the team of Andrew Trostle and Gunnar Smith took 2nd in their bracket. They beat Porter first round 6-2, 6-2. Then they defeated Conroe 6-4, 6-1 to get to the finals. They lost a close one to Kingwood Park 4-6, 6-7 (5-7 in the tie breaker). Said Thibodeaux, "they had a great day and played some very good tennis in order to make it to the finals."
Other winners were Kaitlyn Hamilton A girls singles beating OakRidge 6-2, 6-3. Katie Murski defeating Splendora 6-2, 6-2. In A girls doubles Kathryn Robinson and Abby Figueroa beat Conroe 4-6, 6-2 (10-4 super tie breaker). In A boys singles Dalton Barron won against OakRidge 6-2, 6-1.
The Brenham tennis team will be back in action this Friday and Saturday playing in the Katy Lightsey I-10 Corridor Invitational tournament.
