WOMAN DIES TRYING TO CROSS STREET IN GIDDINGS
A woman died Monday night after being hit by a truck as she was crossing the street near Simmang Park in Giddings.
49-year-old Syble Fisher was pronounced dead at the scene shortly before 8 p.m. Monday. Authorities say Fisher was struck as she was walking in a lane, attempting to cross Independence Street.
Police say the driver of the truck, 73-year-old William Baca, didn’t realize he hit Fisher until he turned back to return to the scene. The incident is still under investigation.
