BELLVILLE GROUP TO AID RECOVERY FROM CHICAGO FLOODS

Volunteers with Southern Baptists of Texas Convention Disaster Relief are headed to the Chicago suburbs to help clean out homes that were affected by severe flooding in northern Illinois.

A cleanup/recovery unit operated by First Baptist Church of Bellville will deploy Saturday morning and head to Illinois to help remove mold from homes.

Unit director Mike Phillips says, “The main thing is to work with the homeowner and check for mold and if necessary pull out all the furniture and sheet rock.  Anything that has a potential for mold to grow is a main concern.”

Upon arriving in Grays Lake, IL, Phillips plans to spend about 6 days serving flood victims.

“We are going up there to serve the folks up there but it’s really in the guidance of the Lord that we’re doing this,” said Phillips.  “We want to give glory to God in everything we do.””
