BLINN GRADUATION SET FOR THURSDAY NIGHT

Blinn College will recognize 845 graduates during its 139th commencement ceremony Thursday, at Brenham High School.

Blinn hosted a Fall semester graduation ceremony in December that recognized 802 graduates, bringing the graduate total for the academic year to 1,647, in addition to the thousands who transfer to four-year universities each year.

The 845 students earning Blinn diplomas this month will include 365 reverse transfers, which allow students who completed Blinn’s residency requirements before transferring to a four-year university to apply credits they earned toward their associate degree.

Blinn’s Spring Commencement will include two student speakers – Angel Hickerson from the Brenham Campus and Gary Russell from the Bryan Campus.

A Houston native, Hickerson joined the Blinn College Music Department in 2016, where she twice has been named to the Two-Year College All-State Choir and represented Blinn as a soloist during its 2017 performances in New York City. She will continue her studies at Houston Baptist University, where she will major in music education.

Russell enrolled at the Bryan Campus in 2016 after eight years in law enforcement. While at Blinn, he served as Vice President of Services for the Phi Theta Kappa honor society. Russell will graduate with an Associate of Arts in criminal justice and an Associate of Applied Science in law enforcement. He has been accepted to Sam Houston State University, where he will pursue his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.

Registration is now open for Blinn’s May Minimester and Summer and Fall semesters.  For enrollment information and to learn about financial aid opportunities, visit: www.blinn.edu.
