BOND ELECTION FOR AUSTIN CO. FACILITY IMPROVEMENTS HEADLINES TUESDAY’S BALLOT

While there may not be many contested races across Austin County, voters will have a say in a $17 million bond proposal at the polls tomorrow (Tuesday).

Austin County Judge Tim Lapham says these funds would be used for construction and renovation of several county facilities, like a justice center and an emergency services facility.

Lapham says, as the county is currently working on an addition to the sheriff’s office and remodeling the jail, it made sense to attempt to combine the projects for cost efficiency.

Lapham says, if the bond is passed, the county will look to begin the process before year’s end.
