DOROTHY MORGAN PLANNING TO RUN FOR BRENHAM MAYOR IN MAY

A former Brenham mayor and Washington County Judge is throwing her hat into the ring for another run for mayor.

KWHI sources have told us that Dorothy Morgan plans to file for a place on the ballot for May’s City of Brenham election.  KWHI has reached out to Morgan, who has confirmed she will be running for mayor.

Speaking with Morgan this (Wednesday) morning, she said she has been “very seriously” considering running for election, and has informed current Brenham Mayor Milton Tate of this.

Morgan previously served as the mayor of Brenham for over four terms, and for the majority of the 1980’s.  She was a government teacher in Brenham ISD before running for mayor in 1982.  Morgan attended the city’s last council meeting in December, and was very active in asking questions.

She also served five terms as Washington County Judge, beginning in the early 1990’s.  She opted not to run for re-election in 2010.

The first day to file for a place on the general election ballot is Wednesday, January 16th, with the last day being Friday, February 15th.  The election takes place May 4th.

  1. Dorothy was the best teacher I ever had, I learned more from her than any other teacher, she could be stern mind you, but I payed attention and learned about our government and alot more.

    1. I agree, one of the best teachers. I was scared to death when I found out she was my Govt teacher, but loved her class. I then came to know her as our County Judge. Great advocate for the county fire departments.
