WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS TO CONSIDER TAX ABATEMENT FOR BLUE BELL CREAMERIES

  

Both new and old Washington County Commissioners will hold their first regular session of the year on Tuesday.

Commissioners will open up the year with a look at a tax phase-in agreement between the county and Blue Bell Creameries.  Blue Bell was recently granted a tax abatement by the City of Brenham in October, for its planned expansions to the fleet maintenance and pallet transfer facilities.

Also on the agenda, commissioners will consider a replacement to the Brazos Valley Council of Governments Board of Directors.  The position is held by the sitting Washington County Judge, so current County Judge John Durrenberger will take the spot held by former County Judge John Brieden.

Commissioners will also view a one-time service contract between the Sheriff’s Office and Willo Products Company, Inc., for door repairs at the Washington County Jail.  They will also look at annual renewal of contracts with four attorneys to represent indigent defendants in the county.

The county will also look over a community service contract with Faith Mission and Help Center.  In addition, the court will look to approve a Blinn College student to intern with the Sheriff’s Department.

Commissioners will meet Tuesday morning at 9 a.m., at the Washington County Courthouse.
