SIX PEOPLE SENTENCED IN DISTRICT COURT
Six people pled guilty in District Court this week and were sentenced by Judge Carson Campbell:
Carlos Dewayne Smith, 38 of Hockley, had his probation adjudicated and was sentenced to 3 years in prison for 2 counts of possession of a controlled substance. He was also ordered to pay a $2000 fine.
Oscar Griffin, III, 33 of Brenham, had his probation adjudicated and was sentenced to 279 days in state jail for a 2014 conviction for Organized Retail Theft. He was also ordered to pay $1,587 in restitution.
Florence Denice Jackson, 35 of Brenham, was sentenced to 6 months in state jail for Theft and Attempted Tampering with a Witness. She was also ordered to pay $1,995 in restitution.
Sylvia Pratt, 52 of Navasota, was sentenced to 10 years deferred adjudication probation for Causing Serious Bodily Injury to a Disabled Individual. She was also ordered to pay a $1,500 fine, perform 150 hours of community service, serve 120 days in the Washington County Jail as a condition of probation, not work as a caretaker, and register with the Health and Human Services Commission Employee Misconduct Registry. Pratt, along with two other individuals were indicted by a Washington County Grand Jury in November of 2017 for causing the death of Amy Parrish while she was a resident at the Brenham State Supported Living Center. The indictment charged that the three individuals left the disabled Parrish in a vehicle causing her death in excessive heat conditions in July of 2017.
Jose Adalid Alverado-Sanchez, 30 of Brenham, was sentenced to 4 years deferred adjudication probation for Evading Arrest with a Vehicle. He was also ordered to pay a $750 fine and perform 150 hours of community service.
Lenora Johnson, 47 of Dayton, was sentenced to 3 years’ probation for theft. She was also ordered to pay $14,903 in restitution, perform 100 hours of community service, and stay away from the Burton Short Stop, the victim in this case.
