PRAIRIE VIEW A&M POLICE INVESTIGATING REPORTS OF SHOTS FIRED AT CAMPUS

Authorities at Prairie View A&M University are searching for suspects after reports of shots fired on campus Wednesday evening.

The university sent out a tweet around 7 p.m., saying no injuries had been reported and any suspects had fled the scene.

Law enforcement officials told a Houston TV station that at least one person was shooting at parked cars on campus.  Students at the school were alerted via a mass text message from the school, and told to seek shelter until further notice.

University police are investigating and patrolling the campus to find the person or persons responsible.

The university has released a statement on the incident, asking anyone with knowledge regarding it to call the school’s tip line at 936-261-2222.
