DOWNTOWN BURTON TO CELEBRATE TEXAS RANGER DAY MARCH 16TH

The Ninth Annual Texas Ranger Day is set for later this month in downtown Burton.

Hosted by the Burton Heritage Society, the event celebrates the history of the Texas Ranger and supports the restoration of the historical Mount Zion Chapel.

This year’s event, scheduled to begin at noon on March 16th, gets underway with the Annie Maud Avis Memorial Fajita and Bean Cook-off, along with live re-enactments by the Legends of the Texas Rangers.  There will also be a display of Ranger camp life in the 1880’s, in addition to weapons and folk life demonstrations.

Guests can also tour the 1898 Burton Railroad Depot and the farmers gin at the Texas Cotton Gin Museum.  DJ music will be provided by Kountry Chick, and there will be a little Mr. and Miss Ranger contest.  There will also be a silent auction.

Admission to the event is free.  Tickets for all-you-can-eat fajitas and beans are $10 for adults, and $5 for children 5 to 10-years-old.
