TEXAS INDEPENDENCE DAY ACTIVITIES BEGIN SATURDAY AT WASHINGTON-ON-THE-BRAZOS
Events kick off tomorrow (Saturday) at the Birthplace of Texas, for the state’s 183rd anniversary.
The Washington-on-the-Brazos State Historical Site is where 59 delegates met in 1836, to make a formal declaration of independence from Mexico.
The park will host thousands of people throughout the weekend, and feature activities such as live music, traditional crafts, and several historical re-enactments and displays. There will also be a Kids History Zone, and live and silent auctions. New this year is a Cowboy Church Service, which will be held Sunday morning.
Admission fees are waived for the weekend celebration. Events take place tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
