JURDEN/BENKTE RECEIVE CONFERENCE SOFTBALL HONORS

Former Brenham Cubette softball player, Kelly Jurden,a sophomore outfielder at Texas Lutheran University, has been named the SCAC Softball Player of the Week.

Jurden hit .583 over four games last week, and posted an on-base percentage of .706. She reached base 12 times to help lead TLU to a 3-1-mark last weekend in the four-game series against Southwestern.

Jurden was 3-for-4 with a run scored and three stolen bases in the series-opener. She was 4-for-4 with three runs scored and three stolen bases in the first game Saturday in Georgetown.

Another former Cubette and former Blinn Buc, Colleen Bentke, a senior at the University of Texas-Tyler, was named ASC Co-Pitcher of the Week.

Bentke earned the honor for the second time this season after picking up two more wins to move to 6-0 on the season.

She did not surrender a run in 10.1 innings of work and allowed just nine total base runners.

For the season, Bentke owns a 1.56 ERA and is allowing opponents to hit just .165 against her.
