WASHINGTON-ON-THE-BRAZOS HOLDS INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION

Washington-on-the-Brazos was home to guests from all across Texas this past weekend, to celebrate the state’s 183rd birthday.

Guests could freely tour the Star of the Republic Museum and Barrington Living History Farm, seeing true-to-life demonstrations of Texas residents in 1836.

There were also several performances and shows throughout the weekend, including the historical play “The Birth of a Republic”, “Dr. Balthasar’s Medicine Show”, and “Professor Gerard the Texian Magician”.

The park also had an 1836 Texas Army camp set up on the park grounds, where visitors could see how soldiers and their families lived, along with cannon and musket firings.  There were plenty of traditional crafts to look at, and numerous live music groups to enjoy.

Guests were also served a Texas-sized birthday cake.
