Approximately $500,000 worth of cocaine was found hidden underneath a three-month-old infant during a Fayette County traffic stop Monday afternoon.

Just after 12:15 p.m., Fayette County Sheriff’s Sergeant Randy Thumann and K-9 Kolt stopped a Chrysler Sebring on Interstate 10 at the 667 mile marker eastbound, for a traffic violation.  Sgt. Thumann was assisted by Investigator David Smith.

After speaking with the driver, Sgt. Thumann observed many conflicts in his travel itinerary and criminal indicators of drug trafficking.

Upon receiving consent to search the vehicle, Sgt. Thumann discovered approximately five kilos of cocaine hidden in the lining of an infant’s car seat, under a three-month-old infant.  The street value of the cocaine was $500,000.

The driver, 29-year-old Jose Luis Robles Andrade of Mexico, was arrested for Felony Cocaine Possession and taken to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center.
