CALDWELL SCHOOL BOARD APPROVES DESIGN FOR NEW SCHOOL FACILITIES

The Caldwell school board has approved designs for recently approved additions in the district.

The board accepted the schematics for the new gym and career and technology (CTE) facilities at a meeting last week.  The designs were presented by the district’s bond architects, Parkhill Smith and Cooper out of Austin.

The drawings, according to Caldwell ISD Superintendent Andrew Peters, will allow a majority of the CTE Courses to be in the high school’s new south wing, as well as a gym at the north end seating up to 800.

This past November, voters passed two bond measures totaling just under $40 million.  Proposition A for $36.2 million calls for the aforementioned CTE upgrades and gym, along with other construction and renovations.  Proposition B for $3.7 million refinances the maintenance tax note for the high school’s HVAC system and LED lighting installed last summer.

Construction at the high school has already begun, with crews removing the asbestos from underneath the gym floor.
