HEARING IN B.I.S.D. BUDGET AND TAX RATE, MONDAY

  

A public hearing and possible approval of the proposed BISD budget and tax rate is set for Monday night at Brenham High School.

The BISD Board of Trustees will hear public comment on the proposed tax rate of $1.05 per $100 valuation—7 and ½ cents below last year’s overall rate.  Even though the tax rate is expected to fall, the average homeowner will still see an increase in their taxes due to increased values.

The proposed budget for the district is right at $50 million, which is a 7 and ½ percent increase over last year’s.

The board will also hear a report on the 2019 TEA District and Campus Accountability Report and Ratings.  As a district, the Brenham ISD received a ‘B’ rating from the state.

The board will also hear updates on: Social and Emotional Counselors; Summer School; Construction; and Campus Safety.

There will also be special recognition of the BISD Choir.

Monday’s meeting and public hearing are set to begin at 6:00 p.m., Monday at Brenham High School.
