ONE DEAD AFTER TRAIN COLLIDES WITH 18-WHEELER NEAR SOMERVILLE
One person is dead after a collision this (Friday) afternoon between an 18-wheeler and a train in Burleson County.
According to DPS Sergeant Jimmy Morgan, the accident occurred shortly after 12:45 p.m. at the railroad tracks at Taylor Road, just north of Somerville. Morgan said the 18-wheeler, which was hauling railroad ties, was headed west on Taylor Road when it was struck by the train going north.
Reports say the truck was unable to make it across the train tracks ahead of the train. The train was not derailed, and no chemicals were spilled.
The truck driver, identified as 51-year-old Anthony James Jones of Bryan, was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
The accident is still under investigation.

It is a crying shame that this man sat at the tracks for roughly two hours, the train moved enough to try to make it through, because like any other day these tracks are always blocked, and suffered such a horrid death because he could not see the fast oncoming train. This happens daily, something needs to be done. RIP.
