HOLIDAY EVENTS CONTINUE THIS WEEKEND AROUND THE REGION
Holiday merriment continues across the area this weekend, with several events to enjoy.
Some of the festivities taking place include:
- Downtown Brenham’s “Home for the Holidays” celebration will be held on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Over 25 downtown businesses will offer samples of treats and drinks, as well as discounts.
- The Brenham Children’s Chorus will perform its Christmas concert, “A Spiritual Christmas”, on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Dr. W.W. O’Donnell Performing Arts Center on the Blinn College campus. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Brenham Children’s Chorus office at 979-400-4024.
- Brenham High School Theatre students will present “A Christmas Carol” from Sunday through Thursday at the Brenham High School auditorium. Sunday’s show will be a 2 p.m. matinee, with all other performances at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at https://cubcompany.booktix.com.
- The Burton Christmas Market and Village on Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. will have shopping with dozens of vendors, along with activities for the kids, food, and an appearance from Santa.
- Chappell Hill’s activities begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday with the Chappell Hill Garden Club’s Home Tour, featuring several properties decorated for the holidays. Tickets can be purchased at https://chappellhillgardenclub.com or at the Masonic Lodge at the event. At 3:30 p.m., downtown will play host to the Chappell Hill Chamber of Commerce’s Teddy Bear Parade along Main Street. Cowboy Santa and Mrs. Claus will be on hand, and there will be a rodeo mechanical reindeer ride, a petting zoo and Christmas crafts.
- Independence Community Events will host its “Bethlehem in Independence” live nativity scene on Saturday and Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Independence school house. Food and drinks will be served, and Santa will be available for photos.
- The Barrington Living History Farm at Washington-on-the-Brazos will host “Candlelight Christmas” on Friday and Saturday from 6 to 8:15 p.m., as costumed interpreters bring to life the spirit of the season with musket fire, music and dancing. Tickets are available at https://wheretexasbecametexas.org.
- Navasota will have its “Home for the Holidays” event on Saturday. Visitors can enjoy a farmers market from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the library and festive activities from 1 to 5 p.m. at city hall, like free photos with Santa, bounce houses, Polar Express train rides, a petting zoo, pony rides, Christmas cookie decorating and hot chocolate. A lighted parade will roll through downtown at 6 p.m., followed by a community tree lighting ceremony and caroling.
- Caldwell will celebrate “Christmas on the Square” on Friday beginning at 6 p.m. with music and dance performances by local students. A lighted parade starts at 7 p.m.
- Somerville will host its “Santaville” event on Saturday in downtown, with a parade at 1:30 p.m., shopping at vendors from 1 to 5 p.m., and other activities like a toy walk, kids’ games, bicycle giveaways, cookie decorating and a visit from Santa.
- Fayetteville’s “Country Christmas” celebration on Saturday gets underway at 10 a.m. with shopping at vendor booths. There will also be a holiday home and lodging tour, live music, an art show, kids’ activities, a Christmas tree display with Santa and Mrs. Claus, and a lighted parade at 6 p.m.
KTEX-106 will be broadcasting live tonight (Friday) from Caldwell’s Christmas on the Square. Tomorrow (Saturday), they will make an appearance at the Teddy Bear Parade in Chappell Hill and will broadcast live from Home for the Holidays in Navasota.
