BRENHAM POLICE ARREST ONE ON TRAFFIC WARRANTS, ANOTHER FOR MARIJUANA POSSESSION

  

Brenham police made two arrests on Thursday, one for various traffic warrants and another for marijuana possession.

Just past 10:45 a.m., Officer Gabriel Duran and Officer Rosa Salinas conducted a traffic stop in the 900 block of East Stone Street.  26-year-old Ira Winston of Texas City was found to have four warrants out of the Brenham Police Department, including two for No Driver’s License, one for Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility and one for Display/Expired Registration.  Winston was placed under arrest for the outstanding warrants and transported to the Washington County Jail.

Around 5:45 p.m., Officer Brayten Rolling was patrolling the area of South Chappell Hill Street and Highway 290 East when he observed a vehicle with expired registration and a defective brake light.  During the traffic stop, police detected the odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle and conducted a probable cause search.  36-year-old Daniel Suris of Houston was placed into custody and transported to the Washington County Jail for Possession of Marijuana Under 2oz.
