BRENHAM PRIDE POTLUCK PICNIC DRAWS HUNDREDS TO HOME SWEET FARM
Hundreds of people came to Home Sweet Farm in Brenham Sunday to show their support for the LGBTQ+ community.
The Brenham Pride event was the first-ever held by Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays’ (PFLAG) Brenham chapter, which was formed in 2017.
The free “potluck picnic” featured food and beverages from several local establishments. There was also live music, a photo booth and banner that guests could sign, face and hand painting, proud mom and dad hugs, and a PFLAG information table where attendees could learn more about the organization.
PFLAG President Erich Knapp said he was thrilled with the community’s reception of the event.
Event organizers said nearly 300 people made their way out to the event throughout the afternoon.
Proud mom Michelle P. was also happy to see the event receive an outpouring of support.
Sponsors for the event were Home Sweet Farm Market and Biergarten, Brookshire Brothers, H-E-B, Independence Coffee Company, Royers Alamo Kitchen, and LJ’s BBQ.
The group holds free support meetings the second Sunday of each month at 5:30 p.m., and provides informative materials for families and educators.

Maybe its not positive to them at all.
And maybe that’s just the tip of the iceberg, your question implies you may not understand their position.
That community just wants support! THATS IT! Yet 30+ people on this post were angry about something so positive. Yall are just horrible. What have so much hate in your heart?
Don’t be so sensitive. Being so sensitive is not healthy. We are obviously all different in some way or another.
Correction. The 68+ people who were angry and you should all take your advice. Why be angry over something so positive? Too sensitive?
Because I disagree with you and the choices you make does not mean I hate you! In fact, the opposite is true. The choices you have made in my view are wrong, and because I care about you, my hope is that you are delivered from this lifestyle and able to make healthier better choices. There is nothing but love and hope in heart that you can be freed from this at some point in your life.
I’m a straight married man. I vote a straight republican ticket. I am a conservative. I don’t have to be a part of the community to support it. You should be more open minded. So sad. Why should other people be forced to follow your beliefs? It’s a big world out there.
Amazing. Congratulations PFLAG! This is something I never would have thought I would see in a Brenham newspaper.
This event was beyond our dreams. If there was ever a question about support in this community, it was answered positively by yesterday’s attendance. It was beyond our dreams and we are so very thankful to everyone who donated, who worked and who attended.
