BRENHAM FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDS TO TWO CALLS THURSDAY

The Brenham Fire Department responded to two calls Thursday.

Just after 1:00 PM, the Brenham Fire Department was dispatched to Salem Road and Highway 36 South for a report of transportation incident with fluids leaking on the roadway.  BFD units arrived on location to find a two-vehicle crash with fluids on the roadway.  Firemen used dry absorbent on the spill to prevent it from running down the road.  After all vehicles were removed from the road BFD members used tank water and detergent to remove the oil from the lanes of traffic.

At 7:40 PM, they were dispatched to 708 Old North Market Street for a report of structure fire.  BFD units arrived on location to find a lawn mower right beside the house burning.  Firemen used tank water to extinguish the fire.  They made entry into the house to check for fire extension, but no signs of fire were found.  A fan was used to remove the smoke that was inside the house.  The lawn mower was a total loss and the plastic sliding on the residence was damaged.
