In addition to regularly updating its website with information on COVID-19, Chamber President Wende Ragonis said the Chamber is working in concert with other stakeholders in the county’s Joint Information Center (JIC) to be the voice of local business.

Ragonis said the Chamber is currently calling all of its members—of which there are over 800—on an individual basis to hear and document what challenges those members are facing, what they are doing to keep their workforce, and what protective measures they are taking if they are still open as an essential business.

Ragonis said often times, her conversations with members do not involve many spoken words.

The Washington County Chamber website features updates from local health officials, resources for small businesses, a compiled list of news releases from individual members, tools on how to work remotely, and a list of restaurants offering takeout or curbside services.  Ragonis said the Chamber is also working closely with its local banking and lending partners to make sure they are aware of government assistance opportunities.

Ragonis said information and communication are key during these trying times.
