JOINT INFORMATION CENTER ANNOUNCES CENTRAL WEBSITE FOR COVID-19 UPDATES

Washington County’s Joint Information Center (JIC) has introduced a streamlined resource for residents to find COVID-19 information.

The JIC, comprised of agencies such as the Washington County Office of Emergency Management (OEM), the City of Brenham, local school districts, Blinn College, the Chamber of Commerce, Baylor Scott and White, and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, will provide COVID-19 news and updates, positive counts and statuses, and good news stories via its website.

Through Washington County’s COVID-19 Communication Plan, updates will be posted to the website by 10 a.m. Monday through Friday.  The latest news, good news stories, questions raised by the public, and other pertinent information will be posted to the Washington County Office of Emergency Management Facebook page several times daily and shared by other respective agencies.

County Judge John Durrenberger said this central resource is essential in the county’s effort to “simplify the dissemination of information, squash rumors, and ensure the facts are presented”.  Brenham Mayor Milton Tate said if everyone in the community makes this website and the OEM Facebook page their first source of information, large strides will be made in “reducing fear, rumors, and miscommunication”.
