AREA SCHOOLS FEATURED IN U.S. NEWS AND WORLD REPORT’S RANKING OF BEST HIGH SCHOOLS
The U.S. News and World Report magazine has released its latest list of The Best High Schools in America, and some area schools ranked highly on the list.
The rankings, released late last month, feature approximately 18,000 public high schools out of a review of more than 24,000 in all 50 states. Rankings are based on college readiness and curriculum breadth, math and reading proficiency and performance, underserved student performance, and graduation rates.
Out of 1,485 Texas high schools featured, Brenham ISD is ranked 10,367th nationally and 922nd in Texas. Burton ISD is ranked 10,811th in the nation, and 963rd in the state.
At Brenham High School, total minority enrollment is 54 percent, and 42 percent of students are economically disadvantaged. Brenham High School has a total enrollment of 1,471, with a 13:1 student-teacher ratio.
For Burton High School, total minority enrollment is 36 percent, with 49 percent of students considered economically disadvantaged. Burton High School’s total enrollment is 137, with a student-teacher ratio of 11:1.
