TEXAS A&M ANNOUNCES CHANGES TO FALL 2020 SCHEDULE

Texas A&M has announced changes to its Fall 2020 class schedule.

Provost and Executive Vice President Carol A. Fierke announced the most significant changes to the schedule in a message on Monday:

  • Classes begin on Wednesday, August 19, three days earlier than originally scheduled, with reading days and finals being remote following Thanksgiving break,
  • Approximately half of all course offerings will be available face-to-face, with remote options available to all courses and cameras, microphones, and other equipment being installed into classrooms to increase remote capability,
  • There will be no Saturday classes as originally announced as an option, but face-to-face classes will be taught beginning at 8 a.m. and ending at 8:35 p.m. Monday through Friday in order to accommodate social distancing and reducing the traffic on campus and in each classroom,
  • Time between classes has been increased from 20 minutes to 30 minutes to ensure students and instructors enough time to vacate classrooms before each new class,
  • A 45-minute break around noon will be used to sanitize classrooms,
  • Face coverings will be required in all buildings, and in open areas when it is impossible to maintain six feet between people,
  • Rooms will be limited to 33 to 40 percent of normal capacity to allow social distancing,
  • Additional safety measures are in progress and many more are under consideration, including testing, contact tracing, plexiglass barriers, and enhanced air circulation and cleaning, among others.

Locations and times of classes may change, but registration will re-open on July 27th for students that wish to make changes to their schedule.

Additional details are still being worked out and will be announced before the start of the fall semester.
