Shortly before 11 a.m. Thursday, Brenham police were called to Little Mike’s in the 2100 block of South Market Street in reference to a burglary of a building.  Investigation found that someone caused major damage to the inside of the building and took an unknown amount of money.

According to DPS Sergeant Stephen Woodard, 27-year-old Justin Wayne Ogrodowicz of Conroe was driving eastbound on Highway 290 at FM 359 in Waller County at a high rate of speed.

At roughly 11:15 a.m., Ogrodowicz, driving a 2010 Chevy Malibu, hit the back of a Ford F-250 pickup, shattering the back glass of the truck.  According to Woodard, Ogrodowicz then turned into the westbound lanes of Highway 290, where he struck the underside of an 18-wheeler.

Ogrodowicz was flown by the Washington County EMS helicopter to Memorial Hermann in Houston, where he remains in critical condition.  No one else was hurt in the crash.

Woodard says there is a possible criminal case with Ogrodowicz through the Brenham Police Department, but could not definitively speak on the matter, as DPS only investigated the crash.  However, family members of Michael and Sandy Krueger, owners of Little Mike’s, state they have received confirmation that the person who broke into the bar is the same person that was in the wreck.

KWHI is awaiting further information from the Brenham Police Department.

  1. Think of the scores (and maybe even hundreds) of thousands of dollars that this suspect may have caused in damages, loss of earnings, wages and salaries, healthcare costs, etc. While I’m sure that the total amount will never be tallied, it would seem to me that, if arrested and convicted for the burglary, the suspect were to have to repay the business and vehicle owners, the law enforcement and emergency personnel, the medical transportation, the hospital, and the judicial system back, he may very well spend those years of work thinking how foolish this all really was. Thankfully, no one else was injured in the wreck in Waller Co.
