CITY OF BRENHAM BEGINS ANNUAL FIRE HYDRANT AUDIT MONDAY
The City of Brenham’s Water Construction Department will begin the annual Fire Hydrant Audit starting today (Monday).
The purpose of the audit is to identify any hydrant malfunctions or related valve issues, find any weaknesses in the water distribution system, identify inadequate water volumes and pressures in the mainlines, and help determine the gallons per minute and residual pressure at individual hydrants.
During this time, residents may notice a discoloration in their water. If they do, they can resolve the issue by individually opening the cold and hot-water faucets and letting water flow until it is clear. If a faucet is running slow, residents should check the faucet screens for trapped particles. They should also wash a load or two of dark-colored clothes first when doing laundry. If the issue persists, they should contact the City of Brenham.
The flushing of hydrants will be between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., and will be completed by Texas Hydrant Services. During these times, residents may see large amounts of water running along roadways. Drivers are asked to slow down and use precautions when driving through the water.
Anyone who has questions or concerns, or needs to contact someone after hours or on weekends, can call 979-337-7400.
