BURLESON CO. FAIR SALES TOTAL OVER $1.6 MILLION

  

Despite many changes as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Burleson County Fair proved to be a success.

Total sales at the fair, according to the Burleson County Fair Association, reached $1,667,000 when combining the youth livestock auction, commercial heifer sale, and baked goods sale.  The grand total falls below last year’s sales of $1,961,225.

This year’s youth livestock auction drew $709,500, compared to last year’s $1,009,800.  The commercial heifer sale totaled $935,150, up from 2019’s $920,550.  The baked goods sale raised $22,350, down from a record $30,875 in 2019.

Top sellers in the youth livestock auction included Rylan Zboril’s grand champion market steer, which sold to J x J Ranch for $9,000, and Barrett Howe’s reserve champion market steer, which was also bought by J x J Ranch for $7,500.

Grand and reserve champions sold for $66,750 altogether in the auction, with $35,500 going to grand champions and $28,000 to reserve champions.  No records were broken in the youth livestock sale.

In the commercial heifer sale, both the grand and reserve champions sold for $18,000, breaking a record for reserve champion.  Grand champion Grace Cadan sold her pen of heifers to John Malazzo Farms, while reserve champion Laramie Piper sold his pen of heifers to Marvin and Martha Kacer.
