BRENHAM ISD TO OFFER SUMMER MEAL PROGRAM THROUGH 2020-21 SCHOOL YEAR

A recent change by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) will allow Brenham ISD to operate its summer meal program through the entire 2020-21 school year.

Last week, the USDA announced it would extend flexibilities to allow free meals to continue to be available to all children throughout the full school year.  This flexibility enables Brenham ISD to offer free breakfasts and lunches daily to all children ages 1-18 and enrolled students with disabilities up to 21 years old.

Meals obtained in the cafeteria line will be rung up under the student account at no charge.

Curbside meal service will continue to take place daily between 10 and 10:45 a.m. at Brenham Junior High School.

Remote learners will not need to be present in the vehicle to pick up their meal.  A parent or guardian must bring the student’s ID card or Remote Learner Meal ID card to obtain the student meal.  Parents can pick up the Remote Learner Meal ID card at their child’s campus.

If a child is not enrolled in the district, the child will need to be present, or a birth certificate for that child will need to be present.

Anyone with questions about the free meal program can visit http://brenham.healtheliving.net, or call the district’s Child Nutrition Department at 979-277-3750.
