SALES TAX REBATES UP FOR BRENHAM, WASHINGTON CO., DOWN FOR BURTON IN NOVEMBER

  

For the second month in a row, sales and tax distributions were up for Brenham and Washington County, but down for Burton.

Washington County’s rebate in November totaled $286,056, up 2.99 percent from last November’s payment of $277,744.  Through 2020 so far, the county has received $2,806,515, down 4.4 percent from this point last year, when the county had received $2,938,094.

Brenham received $639,796 in November, an 8 percent increase from when it received $592,193 last November.  The city’s year-to-date payment for 2020 totals $6,390,518, just 0.04 percent below last year at this point, when the city had received $6,393,480.

Burton’s November rebate was $7,504, 2.7 percent down from last November, when the city received $7,718.  To date, Burton has received $79,000, up 2.7 percent compared to the $76,851 received at this point last year.

Comptroller Glenn Hegar reported, for the month of November, that the state paid out $890.5 million, up 4.8 percent from last November, and up 0.3 percent for the year so far.
