SALES TAX REBATES IN MARCH UP FOR ALL WASHINGTON CO. ENTITIES

  

Washington County, Brenham and Burton all reported an increase in sales and tax distributions for the month of March.

Washington County’s rebate this month was $256,068, up 7.98 percent from the county’s payment last March of $237,142.  Through 2021 so far, the county has received $817,360, up 4.09 percent from the $785,235 it received at this point last year.

Brenham’s March rebate totaled $572,373, an 8.01 percent increase from when it received $529,917 last March.  So far this year, the city has received $1,845,310, up 5.48 percent from last year’s payment-to-date of $1,749,315.

Burton received $5,991 this month, an increase of 4.96 percent from the $5,707 it received last March.  To date, the city has received $21,475, down 2.06 percent from the $21,929 received through this time in 2020.

For the month of March, Comptroller Glenn Hegar reported the state paid out $762.5 million in local sales tax allocations, down 0.5 percent from last March and down 0.9 percent for the year so far.
