VOTING UNDERWAY FOR ‘SPRING EGGS ART WALK’
The streets of downtown Brenham have come alive with the look of spring, as Main Street Brenham’s annual “Spring Eggs Art Walk” has begun.
Dozens of giant, decorated eggs are placed across downtown at street corners and in front of businesses, with 35 entries in adult and student categories. The public can now vote for their favorite eggs by going online to www.downtownbrenham.com/springeggs, or by picking up a paper ballot from participating sponsors or the Visitor Center.
Right at $1,200 in cash prizes will be awarded, including the best of show prize of $200 from Kieke Egg Farm. Cash prizes of $125 will also be awarded to adults and students for most creative, most votes, judges’ choice, and best Easter theme.
Other prize sponsors are Brown Water Cigar Bar, Hermann Furniture, The Pomegranate/Funky Art Café, Pioneer Smokehouse and Mercantile, Brenham City Councilmember Susan Cantey, The Canyon Chick, Las Americas Latin Cuisine, and Must Be Heaven.
Completed eggs will also be up for auction during the art walk. Anyone can bid on an egg via a link provided on the website. Auction proceeds from each egg will be split 50/50 between the egg artist and Main Street Brenham. Auction proceed money will be presented in addition to any prize money an entry has won.
Maps providing the location of each egg are available online, at sponsoring locations and the Visitor Center. Voting runs through April 3rd, and winners will be announced on April 7th.
