NO INJURIES AFTER 18-WHEELER AND VAN TOWING CAMPER COLLIDE NEAR BURTON

No injuries are reported after a collision between an 18-wheeler and a van pulling a camper Tuesday afternoon east of Burton.

The Brenham Fire Department was called out at 3:45 p.m. to a crash with entrapment in the 8700 block of Highway 290 West, near the intersection with FM 1948.

Everyone was out of their vehicle when firefighters arrived.

The fire department helped DPS with removing debris from the roadway to get traffic moving.  The eastbound lanes of the highway were blocked for just under half an hour.

  1. I observed most of this crash, and also observed the BRENHAM FIRE DEPARTMENT personnel doing a great job, in a difficult situation, with the busy Hwy 290 traffic all around them. There were only splinters left over from the travel trailer in the crash, and it was all they could do, to use a large front-end loader, and dump it onto a large container truck. I spoke to the couple, and they were unhurt, and amazingly calm, so was their dog – again, nice going Brenham Fire Department!
