BRENHAM ISD STUDENTS BUILD RAMP FOR WOMAN BATTLING CANCER

Brenham High School students recently took on a project to help a local woman who is battling cancer.

Each year, the class of Construction Technology teacher Mark Thiel attempts to participate in a service project as a way of giving back to the community.  This year, ten students helped build a wooden ramp inside a house for a woman who uses a walker.

Thiel said some students do not always get the opportunity to give back to others because of financial reasons and home situations.  He said it makes students very happy to see the impact they have on others.

Claudio Zavala, a junior, is one of the ten students that helped construct the wooden ramp.  He said he feels great now that the woman does not have to struggle while navigating inside her home.
