WASHINGTON CO. 4-H BRINGS HOME STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS FROM 4-H ROUNDUP

Washington County 4-H took home two state championships and several high honors at the 75th Texas 4-H Roundup.
Seventeen members from Washington County 4-H participated in the event, which was held from June 8-10 in College Station and featured around 1,300 youth in 50 different competitions.
The livestock judging team of Chet Fritsch, Weston Hinze, Waylon Hinze and Tanna Thiel won top award and state championship for their efforts in evaluating livestock. Thiel was awarded first overall High Point Individual, while Weston Hinze was named ninth overall High Point Individual. The team will advance to the national contest in Louisville, Kentucky in November.

Madison Moran, participating in her first Texas 4-H Food Show, received a first place state championship win in the Healthy Desserts category.
The Horse Quiz Bowl team of Lillian Faske, Jonah Faske, Jacob Fitch and Rachel Wynans placed third in the competition. The team also placed seventh in the hippology contest and 13th in horse judging. Wynans was 14th High Point Individual in both horse judging and hippology.
The Food Challenge team of Clayton Boeker, Rowdy Weidemann, Adrie Niemeyer and Madison Moran earned fifth place honors in the side dish category. The state Food Challenge contest included 44 teams. Clayton Boeker competed in the Main Dish category and received seventh place.
In Educational Presentation contests, Dalton Winklemann received fourth place in the Promote 4-H division. Clayton Boeker competed in the Open Family and Community Health category, receiving ninth place out of 18. Madison Moran did an educational presentation in the Health and Wellness category, receiving ninth place out of 19. Weston and Waylon Hinze received seventh place with their beef presentation. Emmy Kate Boyd received sixth place in the Musical/Instrument category of the Share the Fun division.

Kaylee Sodolak participated in the Veterinary Science Skill-a-thon and earned 11th place overall High Point Individual.
Gretchen Schulze competed in the State 4-H Photography Judging contest. Competing in the Photography Contest at the state level with their district winning qualifying photos were Sienna Kelm (4 blue ribbons and 1 red ribbon), Emmy Kate Boyd (2 blue ribbons and 2 red ribbons) and Thomas Morgan (1 blue ribbon).
Participating in the State 4-H Story Board competition was Addison Schramme, who received 3rd place in the Jewelry category.
In addition to the multiple contests Washington County 4-H’ers competed in, Clayton Boeker completed his year of service on the Texas 4-H Council. This past year he served on the state council and District 11 as 1st Vice President.
One of the highlights of the week included Clayton Boeker and Parker Mason being recognized at the 4-H Opportunity Scholarship banquet for their 4-H careers. Boeker received a McLean Estate Scholarship for $10,000. Mason received a Ft. Worth Stock Show and Rodeo scholarship for $8,000.
Texas 4-H Roundup has been held on the campus of Texas A&M University since 1946.
