REP. LEMAN ENDORSES BIUS FOR HOUSE DISTRICT 12 SEAT

State Representative Ben Leman (R-Anderson) speaks at a Legislative Wrap-Up Forum hosted at Blinn College in Brenham on December 7, 2021.

State Representative Ben Leman is supporting a challenger in the race for House District 12.

Leman, who is not running for re-election, announced today (Monday) his endorsement of Huntsville businessman Ben Bius.

Bius is one of three candidates in the Republican primary in March, the others being incumbent and rancher Kyle Kacal and U.S. Army veteran Joshua Hamm.  No Democrats filed for the post.

In his endorsement, Leman said he believes Bius “will stand up and fight for the conservative values of our district.”

Leman said he is not endorsing Kacal because “Kacal’s moderate voting record does not match the conservative values of this district,” adding he is “simply unable to support his voting record.”

As a result of redistricting, Grimes and Washington counties, which were included in Leman’s House District 13, will move into House District 12.  Starting in 2023 after this year’s elections, House District 12 will cover Grimes, Madison, Robertson, Walker and Washington counties, as well as the rural areas of Brazos County.
