BRENHAM AND BURTON ISDs CLOSED FRIDAY

  

Update @ 2:45 PM:  Brenham ISD has announced that due to the winter storm warning and continued forecasted icy conditions, Brenham ISD will be closed on Friday, February 4, 2022, and all extracurricular activities are postponed. In addition, there will be no Covid-19 testing while Brenham ISD is closed.

Update @ 8:10 p.m.: Due to the winter storm warning and forecasted icy conditions, Brenham ISD will be closed tomorrow (Thursday), all extracurricular activities are postponed, and no COVID-19 testing will be performed.

Brenham ISD will monitor the weather conditions and forecast tomorrow and make a decision during the day about any changes for Friday.

Original Story @ 3:30 p.m.: Brenham ISD is keeping an eye on the inclement weather moving into the area this (Wednesday) evening.

The school district said it is monitoring weather conditions and working with Washington County emergency management officials to look ahead at the possibility of rain and freezing temperatures.  It said it will keep tabs on the forecast throughout tomorrow (Thursday) and Friday morning to determine if its start schedule needs to be delayed for bad weather or poor road conditions.

At this time, Brenham ISD plans to continue with normal school operating hours.  Any further notices will be provided to families and staff members via email and phone call, as well as postings on the district’s website, www.brenhamisd.net, and social media.

Meanwhile, Burton ISD has announced it will close tomorrow and Friday due to the potential for freezing weather mixed with precipitation.  Families are asked to watch the district’s website, www.burtonisd.net, and social media for further updates.

Blinn College will be closed tomorrow, and all classes and activities are cancelled.  Brenham Campus student housing will remain open, and housing staff will be available to support campus residents.  Brenham Campus food services will be open from noon to 6 p.m. tomorrow.  All other campus services will be closed.

Washington County is included in a winter weather advisory extending until 6 p.m. tomorrow.  Freezing rain and wintry mix is expected.
