HOUSE DISTRICT 12 CANDIDATE PROFILE: KYLE KACAL

(Mark Whitehead)
As residents cast their votes in the March primary election, KWHI is talking with the candidates in the three contested races in Washington County.
We continue with State House District 12 candidate Kyle Kacal, five-term incumbent and the owner of a large-scale cattle business on his ranch outside College Station. Kacal is one of three Republican candidates on the ballot, challenged by Ben Bius and Joshua Hamm. The winner will not be opposed in November’s general election.
Kacal said he is focused on preparing the area to be “the epicenter of the growth in Central Texas.”
Another critical topic of Kacal’s is bail reform, working to give justices of the peace the ability to deny bail to egregious offenders.
Kacal seeks to improve public education by ensuring fair wages for educators, reforming standardized testing, and ultimately providing more opportunities for students to learn and allowing teachers to teach.
Kacal knows his voting record has been criticized by some conservatives, but he maintains that he is a rural Republican who emphasizes local control and prioritizes the needs of his district.
Early voting runs through next Friday, February 25th. Election Day is Tuesday, March 1st.
