SPRING OPEN COLLECTION DAYS MARCH 3-5 FOR CITY RESIDENTS, MARCH 24-26 FOR COUNTY RESIDENTS

  

The annual Spring Open Collection Days begin next week at the BVR Collection Station in Brenham.

City of Brenham residents will be able to dispose up to 500 pounds of non-hazardous waste for free at the station, located at 2009 Old Chappell Hill Road, next Thursday through Saturday, March 3-5.  Washington County residents can participate in the collection days March 24-26.

The open collection event is only for non-commercial customers, who must show proof of residence and ID upon arrival.

Any material disposed above the first 500 pounds per household will be charged at the full rate.  The collection station charges $90 per ton for non-compactible debris and $22.50 per ton for brush and yard waste.

No propane tanks will be taken, and loads that contain dirt, cement and/or bricks will be rejected.  Household computers will be accepted, but large quantities of computers will not be.  Tires will be accepted at the normal gate rate.  Appliances with coolant will be assessed a $20 removal fee prior to drop-off.

Hours for the BVR Collection Station during the event will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
