BURTON ISD COMPETES IN UIL ONE ACT PLAY MEET AT NORMANGEE

  

Burton High School Drama earned several awards on Tuesday in their performance at the One Act Play Competition in Normangee.

The group of 13 students, actors and crew performed The Actor’s Nightmare by Christopher Durang, presented by Dramatists Play Service under the direction of Felicia Purvis.  This came after a successful performance for family and friends on Friday, March 4th.

Judges gave rave reviews for Burton’s performance at the UIL meet, hosted by Normangee ISD.

Kody King was awarded Outstanding Actor for all participating schools in the role of George Splevin, while Brinn Rhodes earned All-Star Cast in the role of Sarah Siddons.

Kathryne Whitfield and Cannon Manley received Honorable Mention All-Cast for their performances as Meg and Henry Irving, respectively.  Bailey Gober received Best Crew Award for his work with sound and audio.

Students involved with the performance include Madelyn Dixon, Peyton Franklin, Bailey Gober, Tanner Gore, Hunter Hancock, Kody King, Cannon Manley, Jaden Mertz, Raylan Parker, Trevor Renninger, Brinn Rhodes, Joseph Tavary, and Kathryne Whitfield.

Students will perform again at the Bi-District Competition in Normangee on March 21st.
