HUPE’S THREE HOMERS POWER CUBS TO A 12-2 WIN OVER JORDAN

After getting off to a slow start, the Brenham Cub Baseball Team defeated the Jordan Warriors 12-2 last (Tuesday) night at Fireman's Park.
The Cubs were trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the second inning. Cade Warmke started the inning off with a double and then road home on a two run homer by Hayden Hupe. Later in the inning, Cayden Shields drew a walk. His courtesy runner, Colin Schaper, later scored on a sacrifice fly by Lane Sparks to put Brenham in front 3-2.
In the bottom of the third inning, Mason Lampe and Warmke both singled. Hupe then homered for the second time of the night, a three run shot. That home run was a $200 winner for Callen Schulte in the Buccaneer Food Store Home Run Inning. It also put the Cubs up 6-2. Brenham wasn't done though. Jacob Mabie drove in two more runs with a single. The Cubs were up 8-2.
Then in the fourth inning, Lampe started it off by getting hit by a pitch. Hupe would then do it again, hitting his third home run of the game to put the Cubs up 10-2. He would finish with seven RBIs.
Brenham would get two more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning on a bases loaded walk to Blane Bolcerek that scored Devin Murithi, and a sacrifice fly by Shields that scored Brant Bender to enforce the run rule with a 12-2 score.
Shields came on in relief of the starter Warmke. In 4 2/3 innings, Shields retired 14 of the last 15 Warrior batters in the game. He didn't allow any hits, only walked one, and struck out six.
The Cubs face Jordan again Friday night in Katy at 7pm.
