LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS COMPETE AT THE STATE TENNIS TOURNAMENT

After a lengthy rain delay, the UIL State Tournament finally got underway yesterday (Tuesday) down in San Antonio.

In the Class 4A Girls Singles Quarterfinals, Chloe O' Connor of Boerne defeated Kirby Marik of Bellville 6-4, 6-0.  Marik was making her first ever appearance in the State Tournament.

The Bellville duo of Ally Okonski and Jordan Schroeder won their Class 4A Girls Doubles quarterfinal match over the Lindale team of Breanna Taylor and Taegan Michel 6-2, 6-4. However, they went on to lose to the Corpus Christi-Tuloso Midway team of Genevieve Lillard and Alondra Rocha 6-1, 6-1. For Okonski and Schroeder, it was their second straight appearance at the State Tournament.

In the Class 5A Mixed Doubles Tournament, the College Station High School duo of Kennedy Sharp and Paxton O' Shea lost to the Boerne Champion team of Sophia Raimondo and Maddox Wilfong.
