Both Bellville teams took home first prize for their divisions in the category of Improvisational Challenge: Festival Frenzy.
According to their manager Susan Marek, they memorized festivals from different countries, then had to draw a country’s name from a hat, and recreate that festival on the spot using ten boxes.
The Global Games featured 440 teams from 27 states and six countries. One team that was missing this year was China, who was unable to make the trip.
Marek said that last year when the Global Games were virtual, they enjoyed competing against China, and that her team missed them this year.

The Junior High Team consisted of Rebecca Lucksinger, Katie Schumann, Phillip Richardson, Holly Greene, Stella Oldham, Ethan Wright, and Chloe Brandt.
Marek said that she was very proud of their efforts.
Marek is stepping down after 20 years as the team’s Manager. She is looking forward to spending more time with her grandchildren.
Destination Imagination is a global community that was founded in 1999. They are united by a core belief that when students have the freedom to grow and collaborate without boundaries, their confidence explodes, and the world opens up to them in new ways.
