TWO ARRESTED IN WALLER CO. AFTER INVESTIGATORS SEIZE OVER 200 POUNDS OF METH, 18 POUNDS OF COCAINE

(Waller Co. Jail)
Two men are in Waller County custody on suspicion of drug trafficking after authorities seized hundreds of pounds of cocaine and methamphetamine.
Around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, an investigator with the Westside Narcotics Task Force stopped a passenger vehicle traveling on Business 290, just east of FM 359. A narcotics K9 was deployed to assist at the scene, and alerted to an odor of illegal narcotics inside the vehicle.
A search resulted in the location of eight brick-shaped packages containing white powder, later determined to be cocaine, weighing 18 pounds. Two handguns were also confiscated.
Task force members continued the investigation, which led them to a home in the 22000 block of FM 359, just west of Hempstead. During a search of the home, investigators discovered a methamphetamine conversion laboratory, used to convert liquid methamphetamine into a crystal form before being distributed.

Assistance was requested from the Houston Police Department High Hazard Clandestine Laboratory Team and the DPS Methamphetamine Initiative Group. A total of 206 pounds of methamphetamine, in liquid and crystal form, was seized from inside the home.
34-year-old Jose Agustin Morales and 35-year-old Cornelio Castaneda Diaz, both of Mexico, were arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance and transported to the Waller County Jail.
The operation was a joint investigation between the Westside Narcotics Task Force, Houston Police Department and Drug Enforcement Administration. Investigation is ongoing.
