BURTON AND RT-C BOTH GO 1-2 ON DAY ONE OF THE SCHULENBURG TOURNAMENT
The Burton Lady Panthers went 1-2 on the first day of the Schulenburg Tournament on Thursday.
Burton lost to Weimar 25-18 and 27-25. Paige Fritsch had 42 digs. Mycah Simank added 32 assists and 14 digs. Amaya WIlliams had 19 digs. Kelsie Hohlt had 14 digs. Reagan Roemer had 11 digs. Victoria Wiesepape and Liesha Aguilar finished with 6 kills each.
The Lady Panthers then lost to St. Joseph's Catholic School 25-19 and 25-13. Williams had 13 digs, Fritsch had 21 digs and 8 assists, and Simank had 23 assists and 8 digs, and Hohlt had 9 digs.
Burton did however come back and win the last match of the day by beating Industrial 25-21, and 25-17. Jynisha Randle had 5 blocks, Fritsch had 18 digs, Roemer had 15 digs, Simank dished out 40 assists, and Aerynn Huntsman added 15 digs.
The Round Top-Carmine Cubettes beat Rice 25-6 and 25-7 in their first match at the Schulenburg Tournament on Thursday. Mallory Krause led the way with 4 kills, 5 aces, and 15 assists. Maggie Salinas added 8 digs.
Then, RT-C lost to Columbus 10-25, 26-24, and 20-25. Krause finished with 18 assists and 5 digs, Tess Eilers had 11 digs and 5 kills, Kaysie Ward had 6 kills, Jill Eilers had 9 digs, and Salinas also had 18 digs.
In their final match of the day, RT-C lost to Shiner 25-15 and 25-16. Krause led the Cubettes with 10 digs and 11 assists.
Burton and Round Top-Carmine both continue at the Schulenburg Tournament today (Friday) and tomorrow (Saturday).
