Many families met their new best friend on Saturday as part of the “Clear the Shelters” adoption event at the Brenham Pet Adoption Center.

Saturday culminated a month-long adoption campaign with animal shelters across the country.  The nationwide effort is coordinated in partnership with NBC and Telemundo stations.

Animal Services Manager Allison Harper says roughly 25 animals were adopted this past weekend, but there are many more who are still looking to go to a good home.

For anyone with a new shelter pet, Harper encourages being patient with them as they get accustomed to their new surroundings and schedule.

Harper says to be on the lookout for more adoption events in the coming weeks and months.

As a reminder, adoption fees are half-off for animals who have been at the Brenham Pet Adoption Center for a month or longer.  There are no adoption fees for barn cats.
