The City of Navasota has won an Excellence and Leadership in Economic Development Award.

The award was given by the International Economic Development Council, which is the world’s largest and most prestigious organization serving economic developers.

The city received a Bronze Award for the Best General Purpose Print Promotion for “Navasota Works!”

“Navasota Works!” is a pamphlet and brochure developed by the City of Navasota and the Bush School at Texas A&M to highlight the City’s capital improvement projects.

The printed brochure and pamphlet include a map separating the type of improvement projects into five main categories: road and bridge construction & repair, water and wastewater improvements, gas improvements, beautification & revitalization, and drainage & flood mitigation.

The map shows where all of the infrastructure improvements have been made and that the city equally distributes capital improvement projects across all areas of town.

The IEDC Excellence Awards honor organizations for exemplary economic development marketing campaigns, projects, and programs.

The awards are judged by a diverse panel of economic and community developers from around the world.

The City of Navasota was unable to accept the award in person at the IEDC Conference in Oklahoma City on September 20, so the award was presented at the yesterday’s (Monday’s) City Council meeting.
